A wonderful story for young readers about environmental activism
Fred 04/04/2019 09:38
At the heart of this book is an adventure story for children that highlights our urgent need to care for the planet. The book focuses on environmental activism, particularly the campaign to ban neonicotinoids, the chemical insecticides which are harming our bees. It also brings our attention to the importance of growing food organically.

I read this book after I was struck by the recent Guardian headlines highlighting the push for a complete ban on the neonicotinoids that are killing honey bees and insect pollinators and ‘threatening catastrophe for the planet’.

As well as this being an educational read, it is a fun and charming story about a group of children who go on an undercover mission to save the bees and each chapter is wonderfully illustrated! I highly recommend it for young readers.

Adventures of the doves is wonderful . A brilliant book that , in times to come should and will be recognised for the message that it brings . It is gripping , exciting and simply amazing! The message behind it has inspired me to do something to help and celebrate Mother Nature. I love it. I recommend it to all children who like and love nature.

This is the most wonderful book I have had the pleasure of reading to my son, who thoroughly enjoyed it. He became lost in a world of adventure, eagerly anticipating each new chapter and wishing he was on the mission with the children.  The imagery conjured up by the author is so evocative and the thought-provoking gentle message that underlies this story is truly inspiring.  I thoroughly recommend this book to young and old alike.

This was a wonderful book to read to my son, the best I’ve ever read to him. He had this to say about it:-

"This is a brilliant book that will inspire children to do their best to help the environment.  I really liked it because every chapter ended on a cliffhanger and I was always intrigued about what was going to happen next.  It made me want to be a Redwing and go on all the adventures that the children went on.  I would rate this book 5 out 5 of stars.
