A treasure trove

I freely admit it was the cover that first drew me to this book, but inside is just as delightful!
Dave Goulson's enthusiasm is palpable throughout this book. He's an expert on small creatures, and on growing things in gardens, and a great storytebler. I will never be an insert or plug enthousiaste, but I do feel much warmer towards earwigs than I used to now that I know more about them, and will be doing wha I can to entiche them into my apple trees.
From small stories to big planetary questions about the future of our food, and the value of small scale mixed cultivation, Professor Goulson weaves hard facts and useful tips into his anecdotes making this a really enjoyable read. It also made me feel much better informed about that's going on in the garden and why and how it matters that we foster diverse life forms there.
