In 1927 and 1938 neave Brayshaw made considerable revisionsto the text. Afterhis death, a fifth imprssion of the third edition was issued in 1953 and a new chapter by Beatrice Saxon Snell was added to bring the book up th date. This imprssion was sold out and the book has been unobtainable for some years. Durin the thirty-one years since the text was last revised much new light has been shed on Quaker history and new emphases in the interpretation of the Quaker message have been adopted. Nevertheless Neave Brayshaw's book remains a most important and irreplaceable contribution to Quaker thought.
