Objection Overruled

Objection Overruled was commissioned by Bertrand Russell and Fenner Brockway in 1966 to ensure that the conscientious objectors of the First World War would 'not go unsung' as Britain commemmorated the 50th anniversary of the imposition of conscription. Thousands of young men faced savage opposition ranging from vitriolic accusations of cowardice and treachery to job loss, state-abetted mob attacks, arrestm imprisonment, hard labour, courts-martial, show trials and even execution orders.
