Inspired by a childhood memory, Susanna had always wanted to face the challenge of walking from John O’Groats to Land’s End. So, on retiring, she joined the gym, bought a rucksack and set about planning her epic adventure.
She would walk 1,162 miles, through some of Britain’s most stunning landscapes – the Trossachs, the Yorkshire Dales, the Cotswolds – passing lochs, heather-covered moors and dramatic coastline.
For the most part, she would walk alone, accompanied only by Skylarks, Buzzards and Kingfishers soaring and darting, while an otter, stag and even an adder appeared to spur her on.
